Title: Electric Window Issues

I have a 1984 Silverado K10 pickup. Neither electric window worked when I got it.  I bought new motors and have installed the driver one already. Here is the problem: The motor works very well when rolling down but gets increasingly slower rolling back up and most of the time stops short. Also, when it does stop short, the window won't work at all unless I turn the key off and then turn it back on (and that doesn't always work).  I am "guessing" the regulator is work out and getting into a bind? Or could it be a faulty switch? Would love some advice as to how to solve the issue.

     First thing I would find out if it is a mechanical issue or an electrical issue.  My bet is on a mechanical issue since you just replaced the motor.  Have you checked to see if it is indeed binding when rolling up ?  This is when it would bind up, not rolling down.
     Make sure nothing is bent or loose, that would cause a issue when going up.

As "bake74" recommended, check the mechanicals.  Make sure your window channels are properly adjusted and the glass is tracking the channels without binding.  Be very careful of razor sharp metal and thoroughly lube the sash rollers, hinge points and regulator gear.  Aerosol white grease works well for this.  Use dry silicone spray (not WD40 or Triflo) in the window felts.  Then check the voltage and grounds to the motors.  Read through Wiring up power windows and door locks (http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=27076.msg225363#msg225363), paying particular attention to the wiring upgrade discussed by "frotosride".

Thanks for all the input. I believe the regulators may be a little sloppy but the symptoms feel like a lack of power issue. I checked out the link mentioned above on how to wire the additional relays into the system to add more power and then just purchased a set of 5 with plugs for $13 in Ebay! Thanks for the advice.  I will let you know how it turns out after adding the relays.
