Title: Help ID vent window/ doors
Post by: rball716 on March 06, 2014, 10:02:51 am
I just bought a 1981 C10, the doors however appear to be off a 77-80. Just want some verification before I start buying parts.

Outside vent window

Inside vent window

Appears to not be curved as it should for an 81? Along with the non locking handles makes me think pre 81

Heres the door panel.  the handles are for a pre-81.

Everything points to it being off a pre-81 but being my first project I just want some verification first. Don't want to buy the wrong parts  ::)

I'll narrow it down to 77-79. '80 does have the push button lock.  Its the same style as shown, but it does have the button.

Just an FYI the handles can be swapped...

Of course. The 2 80's that I have owned both had the buttons. The truck that I have now had a broken vent window when I got it. I found an 80 at the salvage yard that had the button as well.

All 3 of these trucks had the square headlight, I'm wondering if it was part of that package.

There is another 80 in town, next time I see it, I'll check it as well.

I'm fairly certain this is factory.  The 80 was an oddball in several ways. That's why I like them.....they fit me :)

And for the weatherstriping, will I need the upper front door to cab seal? I've been seeing some people saying no weatherstrip goes around the door only on the cab.

The Square headlights were an option on the 1980, but 90% of all Silverados got them.

The upper cab seal was mainly used on the 73-80's I have see a few '81's with them...
