I had two bad tanks, and bought a 20 gallon tank and sender for the drivers side, and removed the Pollack valve. I saw the wiring diagram for the valve, and just wondering if anyone else has removed it, and to get the gauge to read again, am I correct in just cutting the wire that goes to the gauge on the plug and connecting it to the other wire on the plug that goes to the sending unit? Hope this makes sense.

Yup. That's all you need to do.

Why are you cutting anything? If you are just replacing 1 tank for now just run that one tank.

I'm not sure, but I think the driver's side tank is the primary. That means a solenoid valve, when un-powered, will connect the driver side sender unit to the gauge without modification IF the switch in the valve works.

My drivers side tank is completely gone, but the switching valve and wiring have not been changed, I leave the switch in the pass position and dont have any trouble. This is on an '83

Both tanks were bad, so now I have one tank. The Pollack valve was also bad, so I removed it and I had to run new lines also. So, no switching valve, and the pigtail for it is just hanging. I need to connect them to get a fuel gauge reading.

Can you just jumper the pins in the connector with a U-shaped solid wire? That would preserve the wiring if you went to two tanks later.

I probably could, thats how I was going to confirm the right wires. I could just wrap it real good with tape then, kind of hokey but its not a permanent fix, who knows what I'm going to do with the truck.
