Title: 73 stearing help
Post by: 73c20longbed on March 21, 2002, 10:41:00 am
The problem , but first a little history. 1973 C20 longbed ,3/4 ton , regular cab. My problem is that the stearing colum sticks out way too far and I want to bring it closer to the dash. I was wondering out of what kind of car could I find a steering collum that I could swap out , without a ton of modifications being done.Thank you for you time.

Well can't help as far as suggesting a car, but a few things to consider.  Some of the older chevy cars didnt have a short shaft between the column and the steering box like the trucks do.  This isnt a  large problem, it will just take some engineering.  Probably the most important thing to consider is the wiring harnesses.  I dont know if chevy cars and trucks use the same type of plugs and setup or not.  This could be a possible stumbling block.
