Title: ACDelco 214-2251 EGR valve replacement
Post by: hondaman on March 11, 2014, 09:03:28 pm
I have a 1981 C10.  350 RWD

I am trying to replace the EGR valve.  First I bought a BWD part locally.  It seemed like a universal model.  The kind you have to somehow figure out what washer to put in the bottom of it.

I couldn't figure it out, and decided to order from Amazon via next day air an ACDelco replacement part.

It came in an ACDelco box, but the part, the instructions and the installation method with the different washer size is 100% identical.

Did I get ripped off?  Or did every single "original" EGR valve replacement have to mess around with the washer-thing?

Didn't ACDelco make an EGR valve that only fit my truck?

They might have made it for several options, thus the different washers.  I did a quick search and came up with a couple things that could be confusing.
Gm parts network states the AC Delco EGR valve part #214-2251 is for 85-86 years SEE HERE (http://www.gmpartsnetwork.com/item.wws?sku=214-2251&itempk=394623&mfr=ACDELCO+PROFESSIONAL&weight=3).  While Rock Auto list EGR Valve for a 81 C10 350 as a part # 214-2251 with a Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 19240049  SEE HERE (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1490184&cc=1030756).
So it could be that things might have gotten mixed up over the years with the part #, or like I said it was designed to fit several different models.
