stopped at the local scrap yard today and guess what i found! It had to be a sign from above lol. phone died right after i took the first pic but its an 89 with a tbi 454. power windows and locks/ ac interior is in pretty good shape. hopefully ill be buying it next week. they are going to remove the car hauling bed. i wanted the bed to customize but they took $1100 off the asking price without the bed. (my friend pointed out that if i loaded my mud truck on it that i would NOT clear traffic lights or low bridges haha) Sooo they are asking $900 without the bed they said it had engine problems so ill need to check in but i think this would be an awesom truck to do a cummins swap into for pulling stuff. What do yall think? oh yeah, couldn't find any rust so hopefully its cancer free.

I so want one of those with a Ramp bed....
-
well i know where a ramp bed is ;) if you are serous the next time i see one for sale i will let you know. ive probably seen 3 or 4 for sale but they where the long bed ramp type not over cab or crew cab,
IF everything works out and i end up with it i want to shorten it and put a hauler bed on it.i could have bought a 3500 with an aluminum hauler bed on it one time for $750 all it needed was tires and a fuel pump... couldn't sleep for a week over that one. would the tbi set up off a 454 work on a 350? i have a tbi350 i just built for my black dually .
-
I don't need it, I just want it. LOL I know where a long ramp Crew Cab is (which is what I want), I just refuse to go look at it, and I know how much they wanted for it.
Are you asking about a the actual TBI or?
-
yes, could i just unplug the injectors and set my 350 tbi engine in, plug the 454 harness into my 350 and it run. just wondering if i will have to swap computers etc
-
What trans is on the TBI? As long as it is not a 1991 4L80E you should be able to swap but you have to swap the ECM unless they are the same then just swap the PROM, but the ECM is faster.
-
350 tbi was an 87 700r the 454 no clue but its an 89 so im guessing th400
-
i think the 4l60e only came out in 93+
-
You should be good then.
-
now my 84/cummins and 4l60 (1991) does have the square plug but its not hooked up, and she tries to shift.
-
ooohhhh what if this thing was 4x4... load her down with atv's and pull up to the off road park or mud fest :) it would be pretty awesome.
-
if i get it my hopes are to shorten it and either put a swb bed on or a western hauler type bed on. also would like to do a cummins swap with a 5 or 6 speed
-
i like the cummins its just hard to find a 5 or 6 speed at a reasonable price. then you have to think about transfer case and if you stick with a auto it has to be strong
-
good thing mine is 2wd lol. im hoping to find a totaled dodge one of these days with the setup i want. i found one a while back but didnt have $2500 to spare
-
im really wanting a 24v just so i can run a live tune on her when i need to
-
I think you should do the cummins swap, make a custom low flat bed to haul your mud truck and what ever you wanted, that would be cool and useful.
-
TALKED TO MY WIFE... :( decided not to get it the truck. decided it wasn't in our best interest. no where to work on it and she says i have too many trucks to spend any more money... lol... i hate to see that truck crushed.... the interior was an 8 out of 10.... no rust.... :(

Lol I know. She has been having health problems lately so I don't want to buy it and something come up and us be in a bind. I usually do just ask for forgiveness when I pull up with another truck lol

That evil grin always winds up with you sleeping on the couch, does it not. :-\
-
I always keep a pillow on my couch and a few Debbie cakes hidden underneath it ;)

you gotta treat your women with respect, but you also have to let her know whose in charge. then say thank you when she gives you the ok. lol

I've always liked these style car haulers. What is the GVW on it? Unfortunately here in Mass you couldn't tow a car on that truck without getting pulled over for being overloaded.
