Title: 350 block

So im getting to the point were im going to finally start looking for a 350 block to replace my 305 tbi but I want to do my home work bfore I go to the junk yard and start looking  what kind of 350 block do I need to look for  r all 350 blockthe same  and I am keeping Iit tbi

Ive heard some tbi blocks have roller cams  if anyobe knows the casting numbers on theroller cam blocks would b helpful  and  are tbi 1 main seal or 2

im not certain on the years BUUUUUTTT IIRC the earlier model 350s internally balanced and the later ones were externally balanced (weights on fly wheel) you have got the 2 bolt main blocks and 4 bolt main blocks, you have 2 peace or one peace rear seals. some did have roller cams, i have a 4 bolt main i built for my dually it was a roller block and had some fancy carbon strengthened metal? also if you are staying TBI the Heads make a HUGE difference so make sure you get TBI heads (or use the ones off the 305?) if you have a smart phone what i would recommend is get familiar with the casting # locations on the blocks and get familiar with one of the sites that has the id charts and just look the #s up as you find the engines. google is your best friend ;) may i ask why you are changing to a 350? more power?

More power and I like the sound of a 350 to me it makes sense to buy performance parts for a 350 than the 305

i would look into vortec heads. they give the best bang for the money.

Ive looked into vortec heads but I think u have to also go with vortec manifold  im going a diffrent route I actually want to build the motor from the block up going for new cam and I have my eye on afr 195cc heads

I would get a later model block anything after 1989 will be a setup and ready for a roller cam.  Pre 89 passenger cars back to 1987 were setup with rollers, pre 89 pickups were not.

My friend has a 98 vortec block laying around  can I use that block in a tbi set up will evrything bolt up

Everything will bolt up. If you use the vortec heads, you'll have to have an intake to match.....bolt holes are different.
