Title: Help with Lower radiator hose. (PIC)
Post by: dsgb610 on March 26, 2014, 02:59:56 pm
Whats up truck bros... So i finally got everything all buttoned up (new water pump, serp set up, new rad, taurus fan, new valve covers, etc...) The problem is my lower radiator hose rests directly on the belt/tensioner.. I assume the constant friction will eventually rub a hole into the hose. Silly me totally overlooked it until now.
Im thinking a longer flex hose that i could possible tie to the frame
 or
a L shaped lower radiator hose. with the 3/4 ends. My new summit radiator has 3/4 for the lower hose and I think its the same size on the water pump (cant remember).
I attached a pic of the spot in question and I also attached a pic of how i mounted my rad.. bootleg but i like it.

Thanks in advance for the help Hopefully someone knows a hose that will work and  save me time running back and forth to auto parts store.

Run the correct application molded hoses instead. The lower hose should also have a stainless spring inside it.

To my knowledge ive always had the correct hose. With the addition of the summit radiator and the vortec water pump it absolutely would not fit. I will double check tomorrow thanks.

Hoses suggested ITT would not work (1.5 and im 1.75). traditional flex hose all kinked in the same location.
I ended up using a stainless steal hose from summit. sucks was very expensive but ive already spent $30+ on random hoses that didnt do the job.

That is just a Serpentine setup.  It is identical to the one in my 1991 Suburban and the one I added to my 1978 Jimmy.  Factory hoses worked fine for me.
