I'm looking to upgrade from the stock cassette deck and would really like to add satellite radio. However I want to stick with a classic looking head unit. I've seen the options from Custom Autosounds and Retrosound which both look pretty good. What else would I need to add satellite to those units? Will I be able to control the satellite radio from those head units or will I have to use a separate unit? Thanks for the info.

Will I think it would depend on how the Satellite radio it controlled.

Yeah, I'm not much of an audio guy so I really don't know how difficult the idea would be to accomplish. The radio units themselves mention having auxiliary inputs and such for things like satellite radio. In an ideal situation I'd like to just get a separate satellite receiver and connect it to the head unit and then be able to control it like the normal radio through that head unit. I just don't know if that's possible without getting a single din newer unit that kills it for me in the looks department.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will just get a separate control unit and use the ash tray area to keep it hidden when I want it to be.

Are you a Sirius subscriber already? Get smart phone access. I pay less than $100 year and get Howard Stern and I have a unit in my Jeep and access from any device or computer so my iPad or smart phone etc. If you get a Bluetooth unit just use your smartphone. Clean, easy and no wires.

Vile, Sirius and Xm Merged so you can get howard on both now. :P and for me net access on my phone (which is what I use in my kia) is $3.95/month ^_^ there are head units that have xm built in most are dubble din though. I personally don't have one.

I'm not sure if anyone makes a classic style unit that has built in satellite but I know they make them Bluetooth enabled. I never looked very hard

My concern with using it in that regard would be sound quality but mostly data usage on the phone.

its not like your downloading movies. so data wouldnt be too much.
not trying to advertise my cell company but i have republic wireless. it uses wifi when it can for calls text and data. if your not on wifi it primarily uses sprint towers. for unlimited calls text and data (6Gs). only problem is if your roaming you will lose the data part. but its only $25 a month 3G. there are 3 other plans also one for $5 that just uses wifi, $10 for just cell and text and $40 for unlimited 4g. but you cant bring your own phone you have to use one of theirs. the moto G is $150 and the moto x is $300. there is a jelly bean rebate out right now if you have a old android phone that is in good working condition they will send you a $100 visa card

I'm firmly entrenched with Verizon and have a 2gb a month plan. It's a good idea but for me personally probably just wouldn't work.
