Title: Crazy indicator lights problem - could be ground?
Post by: boggs1227 on April 16, 2014, 10:15:02 am
Just picked up a 1982 K20.  I'm working on getting it ready for inspection and I'm trying to hash out an electrical problem I'm having.  Here are the symptoms:

Turns signals don't work and dash indicators stay on constantly.
E-brake light does not come on
Dome light stays on until doors are opened - then it turns off?!?
Wipers don't work
Dash light for speedo doesn't come on
Fuel gauge doesn't work

I'm thinking there is probably a ground issue in the steering column, but I want to cover all of my bases.  If anyone can give me any insight, it would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

Chris

for the turns you have bad bulbs somewhere.
E brake, check the bulb
Dome, sounds like it is wired incorrectly
is the wiper getting power
is speedo light burn out, check the bulb
does the fuel gauge do anything?

Also check ground wires I had a dash indicator on fo r turn signal on because the ground wire was broken under the hood  for the front left turn signal
