Hi All,
I need some wise wisdom on my current transmission. I have a 86 Chevy k10 4x4 with a 700r4. My question is after checking the serial on transmission it turn out to be from an 89. Now after doing a little research the input shaft on an 89 should be 30 spline and it currently has 27. I'm going to rebuilt it and need to know if I can convert it into a 30 spline(stronger). If so what parts do I have to change out and any recommendations on a rebuilt kit....Thanks in advance
Jerry.

It was probably changed to match your transfer case, you did not say what transfer case you have. You will not be able to change it if your transfer case takes a 27 spline shaft.

bake afaik gm didnt use a 30 spline output shaft. but they did change input shafts on the 700r4 when it went to the 4l60. but you need to have the correct pump corresponding with the input shaft. so if you completely rebuilt the 89 as a 89 you will have all the correct parts
