Not sure where to turn here for answers so I figured I would ask around here. My buddy has a '90 ish ranger thats prerunned and has a 4.0v6 out of a 2001 explorer sport trac in it. He bought the truck the way it is. One night we were offroading and while cruising down the wash his truck died. He found the computer touching the starter solenoid. He replaced the computer and prom chip, as well as the frame mounted inline fuel pump with aftermarket wiring and relay. We cannot get the truck to run to save our lives. Hes got about 50psi at the rail, good strong spark, and good fuel. It will run on carb spray for a bit, but will not run on its own. One thing I noticed when I tested voltage at one of the Injectors was that both wires in the harness have 12v with ignition on. Im not sure if thats normal or not. Any ideas on what to test? All fuses are good and there are no engine codes.

Some older fuel injected fords have a rollover switch that shuts them down in the event of a rollover. Had a buddy find this out the hard way with a country squire station wagon, it does have a reset on it and that fixed the problem. It didnt take a rollover to set it off, but some dukes of hazad type stuff was enough. Mainly though i suspect you'll find the real issue highlighted in blue and circled on the grill.

This should give you some points to check and hopefully be "the man" to your buddy. 8)

my moms e150 had a no start issue it turns out to be the crankshaft position sensor. cleaned up the terminals and it started up no problem. had good fuel pressure spark and injector signal.

There isn't enough bandwidth on this site to deal with the problems ONLY associated with the 6.0 powerstroke.

Will a scan tool actually show me information I need when the vehicle wont start/run? I dont own a scan tool, but I may have access to one

The ranger I use to drive in high school had a switch in the passenger side floorboard right at the top of the carpet. Tall long legged people would always hit it and knock it loose. Might want to check that.
