Title: 1987 r10 tbi engine swaps
Post by: bigblockchevelleman on April 20, 2014, 12:09:44 pm
My truck is a 1987 R 10.   TBI. I'm wanting to replace the engine. It has 200,00 plus miles. Looking at crate engine. That's 190 hp rating. I'm wanting to go with 280 - 300 hp while keeping the tbi is it possible?  Any ideas and part numbers. Than

You will need the ECM chip burned for the engine, or use the stuff that someone has been posting a link to.

Check out tuffdawg engines also know as d and j machine.  I installed there 350 crate rated at 300hp and 370ft. Lbs tourqe. It is stock computer compatible.  The only thing I had to do was get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and run 15psi and a fuel pump for an 88 I-rock camaro which is tpi. The stock fuel pump won't get enough fuel to the tbi. Also plan on getting a 3 wire o2 sensor. Check out 3rdgen.org. I decided on tuff dawg from other members on here hat were happy with there work.
