Title: A/C comp with headers?
Post by: BADAZ chevy guy on April 21, 2014, 07:03:55 pm
1977 Chevy C10 350ci motor.
I want to keep the A/C, but I also want to go with headers. Are there after market brackets for either the OEM compressor, or a later model compressor?

Why wont the brackets you have work ?  I know there has to be headers out there that will fit without changing the brackets.  Or do you have a set you want to use and know they wont fit ?

The stock brackets mount over the exhaust manifold. About 2" from the heads. Headers are only about 1/4" thick at the flange.

can you use a steel tube cut to the correct length to make up the difference of the header and exh. manifold.  kind of like how some alternators have.

I didn't think about using a tube, but I think that may just be the answer. I'd like to see how the later model compressors mount.
