Hello
I just recently bought a 77 Scotsdale fleetside short bed. It has a weird engine combo in it to me. Its a 350 4bolt main, edelbrock victor jr intake, and a thumper cam. Im knida new to chevy's but everything Ive read says this is a bad combo. Plus I just found out today that only one rear tire spins. I was sure the guy told me it had posi traction when I bought it. Oh well I guess thats just one more thing that i have to upgrade

Also i was wandering if anyone had any suggestions or comments on the engine combo that i am using at the moment?

Welcome to the site from California.  Don't know much about those engine parts, someone else will chime in I am sure.

Welcome from NW Indiana!!!  As far as a thumper cam they usually lack low end power but if your rear end gear is low enough you should be fine.  If your gas mileage sucks that is usually one result in that cam choice in that you have to mash the go pedal to get the truck moving.  As far as a "posi" you could have a worn out stock G80 limited slip differential that isn't working anymore.  If you are lucky enough to have the options sticker in the glove box or fender well under the hood it should mention a G80 code listed.

thanks i will check for the G80 code tomorrow.
i do have another piece of info on my truck, i just looked up the carb number and it is a edelbrock 750.
Is that to much carb for what i believe is stock heads with that size cam?
would i benefit from getting better flowing heads to create better low end power?
or should i do both get a better cam and better heads.
Like you said it is a little sluggish off the line and if i dont apply enough throttle she will sputter for a second then rev up
im thinking the cam is not right for my current setup
