So I have a 1977 Chevy C20,2wd, thm400 trans, 3/4 ton auto.
Looking for a nice 350 to put in my truck.
I found a 1994 5.7l motor on CL that was in an 88 pickup.
My question is, would it bolt up to my trans etc? Looking to keep Carb setup for now.
Thanks for any input.

As far as direct bolt up, I do not think it will. You will need an adapter and probably a flex plate adapter kit like this one at advance adapters (http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/712500a4--ls-series-engine-to-th400-flexplate-kit/). This is just an example, you will have to do the research or call them for which one is right and for the case adapter if needed.

That's what I was thinking as well. Thanks for the input, I'll just keep looking for an older model block.

The 94 motor is still the same basic generation as the existing 77. Differences are the one piece crank seal and the heads. To go to carb you will need an intake. Everything else should work.

Update, found a nice running motor for $500. Originally a 1975 block but has recent rebuild and runs/drives great now!..! Just in time for cruising season!
Thanks for the advice either way.
