ok i have a problem....i can buy a BB 402(396) for 1000! 2geather just rebuilt with 375hp or i can buy a creat motor from GM a 260hp SB but has a warrenty which do u think i should get!??

either way u look at it more cubic inches the more torque..... torque=fun... so i say defenatly the big block... unless u are stressed for gas economy

You could always take a smallblock 400 , bore it .30 and stroke it.

I have a 400SB, what could I expect to pay to have it bored .30 over and how much for a stroker kit?

Any dirt-track racers in your neighborhood?  They can point you toward the best machine shops and answer your questions regarding cost.

Ask them, since building up a 400 is very popular.

I've been out of the loop too long, and never built a motor for pump-gas anyway.  I never spent under 5K on a motor, but mine were built for extreme performance.
