installed all the A/C duc (plastic pieces under dash) today, was wondering if there were brackets or what holds the middle vent and passenger vent to dash?
-
Year and model of truck?
-
On my 82 they just slip into the dash pad. t He dash pad holds em
Sometimes it's hard to get em to stay in position till you gt the pad on. I've stuffed a little foam under em to hold them up and when you slide the pad in it pushes the foam out of the way

sorry. its a 86 chevy Silverado k10 4x4.
@ roundhouse. thanks i'll see if when I install the dash back in if they hold in place

The 86 has plastic studs protruding from the backside of the dash pad and steel nuts that retain the outlets directly to the pad. Not the best illustration, but see the 1986 Service Manual (http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/7387CKMans//Service/X8632_1986_GMC_Light_Duty_Truck_CK_G_P_10_to_30_Service_Manual.pdf), page 1B-36 (pg 99).

I took a few pics that might help you see what Bd describes. Hope it helps..
Here's the dash panel insert with the plastic vent pieces- the dashpad goes between them.

This is what the vent pieces look like behind the dashpad.
