Title: 83 K10 Project.
Post by: dads83k10 on May 27, 2014, 08:37:06 pm
Hey everyone. I have spent the last 3 months searching different pages compiling information and parts list for the swap that will start this weekend.

I have acquired my dad's old 83 k10, and I am about to try and bring it back to life. The goal is to replace the blown up 305 with a 5.3 Vortec. I also want to upgrade from the turbo 350 to a 4l60e to improve drivability. I will be posting pictures of the progress and most likely asking for advise from time to time.

I've ran into a slight snag, trying to set the motor in tonight but the left front of the oil pan is hitting the cross-member. I'm assuming that the motor mounts I have are incorrect.(hok-12621) I don't have a problem buying a different set,but if all of the mounts hit that location I don't see the need.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The member that did their 4x4 truck used Street and Performance mounts.  That is what I am using also.

The ones you listed move the engine forward 1.25" and up 1/2" which is probably causing your issue.  The S&P ones (plus many other plate versions) put the LS in the same location as the SBC that was removed.
