I've been trying to find a replacement for a side mirror for my 79 k10 with zero success. The swivel part completely rusted through. It's the kind that mounts in two places on the door. Here's mine: http://tinypic.com/r/2hehi87/8 (http://tinypic.com/r/2hehi87/8)
What are my options for a replacement? I found a mirror from oreillys that sits fine on the bracket, but it annoys me and lacks the convex bubble part of the mirror.

That looks like a Ford mirror to me

Yeah it's pretty much identical to the ford it looks like. Only difference is mine has rounded mounting plates on the bracket. It looks like the aftermarket part has the same mirror piece, but doesn't have the bubbled section on the mirror. I just saw another chevy with the same mirror as mine and I got a little jealous...

That bubbled section is a stick on style. The bigger ones like that are readily available at any truck stop.

What's with the upside down pic? This is the same style

Don't know. Shows up fine on my screen. That one is close but mine isn't rounded on the backside of the mirror. Found some OEM from a Ford that will fit onto my brackets so I think that'll do her. Thanks everyone.

I ended up finding the exact part with the correct mounting plates on the brackets. Some Ford people said the side mirrors were options and installed at the dealer. News to me. This is part number D6TZ-17696-A just in case it helps someone else down the road.

I had something very similar to those on my '78 back in the '80's with some differences; the top of the arms on mine were flat and horizontal with the ground and they didn't have that circular thing on the top arm. The other minor difference was the top bracket on mine was the same as the bottom bracket only it had a way to indent the mirror so it wouldn't move. Those replacements from JCWhitney are the right configuration or in other words the same as the ones I had. It looks like the metal has gotten thinner (what's new?) but the mirror head is the same and so are the brackets.
I loved them, much more than the stock Chevy mirrors because they have a larger viewing area and sat lower on the top too. And they seem to be able to take more abuse without ripping out of the sheet metal.
Those arms look like they have been bent to that shape after they were bought? maybe?
