found a truck im wanting to buy just not sure what its worth. This will be a project truck. The guy wants $2200 and has sent me pics of the truck. Heres his description:
"1977 Chevy c10 Custom Deluxe. Original rebuilt 305 4-barrel engine 350 automatic turbo transmission glass packs tube headers brand new Elderbrock carburetor rust free daily driver runs excellent. Needs a gas cap and side mirrors.. In great condition for the age, hate to part with it, just needing something easier on gas."
Also i know i shouldnt expect good mpg but what is a ballpark mpg for this setup and what can i do to increase the mpg? I plan on eventually using this as a daily driver

Also the interior will have to be redone. From the fiberglass failed attempt ro rhe orane bezel and visors. Lol

First off, welcome to the site.
You did not mention what part of the country you are from, so I would be weary of the "rust free" pledge. As wise men say, "trust but verify". I would check out this truck thoroughly before agreeing to pay $2200.00 to make sure it is rust free. Usual spots, cab corners, all of the wheel well area's, under cab and the bed support areas and all spring/shock mount area's.
With that being said, if it is really a rust free truck, and has a good strong rebuilt engine (again trust but verify, a compression check will tell you), then $2200.00 is not too far fetched, again depending on what part of the country you are in. Check around your area for like trucks and condition/price to give you a better idea of what your market rate is.
As you said, that interior has to go, it is hideous. :'(

I agree with what 'bake' said about check to make sure it is rust free. I do not know if the doors are not shut in pic or if it is quality of pic, but to me it looks like the alignment of the panels is off. I would bring a magnet with you to see how much bondo the guy put on. If it is anything like is dash work, I would be scared.

2200 is not bad if its really rust free

the pictures dont add up, for one only one shows the "nice" interior. oh yeah if i would of been drinking something it would of ended up on the keyboard, hope that doesn't offend anyone lol. to me 1k would be too much for this truck. if someone puts that type of "custom" work on the dash i cant imagine the rest of the truck being taken care of I.e. oil/fluid changes. i paid 600 for my first truck that i could drive it was my 86 gmc it was in a little better condition had to replace engine but i got a nice 350 from a friend for $200.

If they don't have receipts that you can verify with the biz that "rebuilt " the engine Then it's not a rebuilt engine
Lots of people claim it. But suddenly can't find the receipt when you ask for it
That seems like a high price to me
I'd pay about $800 for It

on face book this kid was selling his 1984 square. claimed only 27XXX miles truck in good condition Yada yada yada. i got on him cause i said "yeah we all know what happens when a square hits 99,999, its burns up." then he claimed it was at 9X,XXX miles before the rebuild and they rolled it over to 00000 for the fresh engine and trans. i then responded yeah tell that to dmv that your selling a vehicle with less millage then you bought it for.
point is you cant trust anything, receipts can be copied (unlikely but you cant just go by that). you have to learn what make sense and what seams too good. the pictures seam too far spaced out so who knows how long since its rebuild or the primer job

As Irish is pointing out. Any vehicle that has been on the road for awhile with high mileage is going to show it's age, now rebuilt ones come in many different stages.
You have to decide what is right or wrong for yourself.

Ya 2200 is a bit steep for that that orange interior gotta go I didn't the pics if it had a nice interior and paint
