Title: Frame rails ... condition : rusty
Post by: Cam68 on June 09, 2014, 07:00:21 pm
Newbie looking for opinions here, so try not to be too brutal.....im looking at picking up an 86K10... decent red color, new strong motor, factory rallys...anyhow the trucks had very little in the way of previous owners messin with it, its all there. But....the lower shetmetal is rusted pretty good, rockers, cab corners, ect ect would all need replaced which leads me to the frame rails....in spots there really not too bad but in others there rusted pretty heavily so...has anyone here sandblasted theirs?? im thinkin it should clean up decent but there still would be pitting...how much is TOO much vs unsafe?

As far as the frame rail is concerned.  Before you do anything sandblasting wise, test the most rusted area's with a screwdriver, if it is soft (flexes) or goes through, better off getting a new frame.

Look at my build thread.

I built my own sandblaster to sandblast my frame.
