Title: Fuel Sending Unit
Post by: bladerunner on June 29, 2014, 11:07:59 am
So I have been having issues with my gas tanks for awhile and I finally decided to tackle all the issues. First up I had a passenger tank which I had never used because the tank won't switch over.  So I dropped that tank and upon looking inside decided to replace it. I have 2 new Spectra tanks with new locking rings. Right now I am looking at the sending unit from the passenger side tank to determine if it is good. Measuring off the ground and the electrical connection on the top of the unit, I am reading infinite.  I am able to get some resistance when measuring below on the underside of the sending unit, but it is inconsistent and certainly not in the 0-90 ohm range I am expecting. Guessing a bad unit?

The meter should indicate 0 Ω Empty and ~90 Ω Full when connected between the pin on the top of the sender and the sender frame.  If it doesn't, replace the sender.
