I am guessing you are asking this because you looked this up on nastyz28.com's Camaro website. An LA built Camaro was a Camaro that was built in Los Angelos instead of Norwood. There were 2 plants that built Camaros from 70-81: LA and Norwood. LA didn't build any from 1972 thru 1975. All that were built then were built in Norwood.
That block number was used from 68-79 in everything from Chevelle, Passenger cars, Camaro, Nova, Monte Carlo, Trucks and Corvettes (late 1972 only -was 4 bolt) There is nothing special about the block and if it is in your truck, it didn't come from an LA built Camaro. Chris Lucas

It appears that you read what I posted incorrectly....again (like when I edited your post..pub158.ezboard.com/f7387c...D=83.topic )
He wanted to know what an LA built Camaro was, and I posted that answer, and then he wanted to know what was special about it and I answered that. I also stated that is isn't special to a truck owner.
It would be to a Camaro owner that was rebuilding a numbers matching Camaro and the VIN was stamped on the Block though. Overall, a 350 block is just a 350 block.
The only way you or I would know what a motor came out of what is if A) you or I owned it originally from the factory, B) We owned the donor car and new its history or C) the Assembly number was stamped on the motor and was still visible and could be decoded to a know vehicle. Chris Lucas
