I have a 1982 GMC K2500. It originally had the 6.2 diesel now it has a 454. My problem is I can't find a replacement neutral safety switch. Mine is the one with 2 small screws holding it in and 4 terminals. All the replacements look like snap ins. Also I have a auto tranny TH-400. Thanks for the help.

Does it look like one of these (http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search.oap?year=1982&make=Chevrolet&model=K20%2BPickup%2B4WD&vi=1051973&keyword=neutral+safety+switch) from Orielly's auto parts ?
In the wiring diagram (http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/wiring_diagrams/81-87_cab_inter_pg1.jpg) found in the tech section for an 82, it shows 2 wires for the neutral safety switch.

The link didn't pull up a part but when I searched oreillys it was the snap in type not the bolt on one like I have.

Does your neutral safety switch look anything like the image, below - AutoZone Duralast DR419 (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/_/N-9cid6?itemIdentifier=116160_0_0_)?

Yes sir but mine doesn't have the single terminal on the left or the 2 terminals on the right.
-
I believe it will work for you, just don't connect wires to the unneeded terminals. That switch is listed for a 1976 - 1980 K25.

Thanks BD I got the switch you listed and it works! But I wonder why mine is different?

Sometimes many parts are consolidated into one part that fits many applications to decrease inventory. In a nutshell, it's cheaper for the manufacturer and their vendors.
