Title: vacuum lines
Post by: rwalk911 on July 04, 2014, 12:11:38 pm
I have a 1981 Chevy c10 that was originally a diesel, but has a Chevy 350 in it now. It has a 1406 Edelbrock carburetor on it, but I am not sure what vacuum lines go where. I also don't know if a line should run from the brake booster to the carb or intake. Also, where does the transmission vacuum line attach?

my trans vacuum line on my 77 was on the intake and so was my brake booster. i don't think the location matters too much but i may be wrong.

Manifold vacuum tee for brake power booster and auto trans (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rsd-imf68rs/overview/)

this is a  vacuum diagram for an 81 305 federal, Auto trans, And California smog. it should be the same concept for what you need though. i would run the manifold vacuum to my brake booster, then run vacuum off the carb to the trans, and pcv valve, and the distributor. some intakes came with a fancy "tree" that plugged into the intake and had 6 vacuum ports. im sure someone else will chime in.

EDIT:

BD beat me to it.. lol

Thanks for the help, but I can't figure out where the line goes on the brake booster side. Does anyone have an actual pic?

The brake booster hose connects to the 3/8" nipple on the manifold vacuum tee (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rsd-imf68rs/overview/).  The manifold vacuum tee typically threads into a 3/8" NPT port near the intersection of the #8 and #5 runners, directly behind the carburetor (see image, below).

The 11/32" vacuum hose connects to the booster through a plastic check valve.
