Hello,
so I'm building this truck, 1983 Silverado short bed, its a rust free truck from down south (I'm in Canada) and the right hand side had some damage so I replaced it with a GOODMARK panel, has anyone else used their parts? the Quality on mine is so BAD that its unusable! just wondering if they are all like that?
Is there any other makers that sell good quality bed sides? I've done lots and lots of hunting for another one, they are hard to find! if you guys know of an original one for sale that's rust free I would love to hear back. its the right hand side with a square fuel door.
Thanks guys!

Did you try to e-mail Chris at the store to see what brands he sells ? I have only heard good things from plp who bought panels from Chris. (captkoas)

I have not, I only looked through the store and I didn't see any full sides, it was just sections.

Wow! That's a bummer! I have heard all of their stuff was nice, as in OEM quality nice. The parts I've seen & used have been...a few hoods for various newer trucks. Many people have reported being happy with the quarters for the muscle car stuff. Hate to hear that about our truck stuff.
Did you buy the replacement bedside new personally so you know for a fact its Goodmark & not something someone did a switch with the box on you? Lorne

When you say that the bedside is unusable, what specifically is wrong with it? I know big panels like that often get damaged in the shipping process. Any chance that could have been the problem?. Some body parts suppliers state in the advertising that the body parts will require hours of body work to get them ready for paint. They claim that the damage (within reason) from shipping is unavoidable.

I bought the part directly from GOODMARK so it can't be something else.
FITZ, it would require countless hours of metal work and covered entirely with body filler, the whole front half is sunk in bout an inch, not damaged from shipping, its like when the press punched the fuel hole in there it sunk that area down, all the lines are bad and yeah its just not a good panel, I bought a new fender (also aftermarket but not GOODMARK) and it almost fit better and needed less filler work to make it perfect than the original one did on the other side (which was a mint fender). so I don't know where to go from here, I'm really hunting for a rust free original one but that's a needle in a haystack.

Have you contacted Goodmark? I'd be interested to see what they can do about it.
-
I only sent them an email and they never replied, I also bought it a few years ago so I can't return in either.

I don't advertise the full bedsides on the store for that reason. The do require an amount of body work and that is a LONG panel to send across country in a truck. Pretty much anything you buy will need massaging. If you expect it to be perfect, you will be disappointed.

I've decided to try and fix it, it'll be a long process but every other panel is either painted or primed, it'll give me more motivation knowing its the last piece to massage. I bought a whole truck for just that side and as I took the side off I realized it wasn't as nice as I thought and it would take just as much work as the GOODMARK one so i'll just fix the new one and then I know its a new panel instead of a slightly rusted used one.
Thanks for the replies guys!
