Title: stepside utility boxes
Post by: 77 longstep on July 20, 2014, 09:35:30 pm
Thought I'd post a photo of a stepside I found in the junkyard.  It has the utility boxes in place of the fenders, uses the same bolt pattern.

I snagged the taillight connectors, where they go through the frame, needed them and 1/2 price sale.  This is at the Ecology yard in Rialto.

Hope you enjoy,
Greg

I got one of those for the cab I used on my truck. Mine was used as a welding truck. Those boxes fit perfectly on an 8' stepside.

Here is the only pic I have of the boxes mounted to the step side.

The company that came up with the concept was using their head for more than a hat rack. Just think, for every one of those trucks...I'd guess there is Two fenders that were removed when the truck was new. Maybe not, could have been some odd order deal, but I'd think the truck came complete & the fenders removed by a fab. company & the boxes installed, then off to the railroad, utility co., whoever. That is what happened Lorne.  I source a few sets of stepside fenders from a local gas company that had theirs converted to the boxes  The bought them and removed the fenders and put the boxes on
