I found a 1979 Chevy custom deluxe k10 4 speed on the floor. Bald tires had the dual gas tanks only has one now. No tailgate or rear bumper cracked window and rusted to heck. Guy also said it has minor mechanical issues. It's worth a $100 bucks.
-
I'd offer scrap price, maybe slightly more if there were parts you really wanted or needed for another truck
-
First off welcome to the site.
You forgot to mention what part of the country you were from, that makes a difference in what shape a truck is normally found. In CA. where I live that would be worth nothing because I can find rust free trucks all day long, but somewhere where everything is rusted, it might be worth more.
Second you forget to mention what he wanted for it.
Supply and Demand also is different in each market. Since your on the demand side, how bad do you want it ?
-
Rusted out, bald tires, one tank, missing body parts, mechanical issues, cracked glass, sun visor... Meh
The bigger question is does the radio work? :P
Seriously, in additionto where the truck is physically located, "worth the money" would also depend on what you're going to do with it.
If you want to build a show truck or a rust free dependable daily driver, you could probably find a better truck to start off with (parts & labor invested= money invested).
If you just need a running 4x4 to use as a feed truck and you get it for a few hundred dollars, then it is probably worth the money.
-
The truck is from Ohio most trucks older than 10 years have rust on them. I'm just looking for a truck that I cans drive around here and the 4x4 for mud and the snow.

And again you still don't post the price so no one can actually answer your question.....
-
My internal scrap-o-meter predicts its worth $537 at the scrap yard. As long as you pay less than $537 your safe.

Alot depends on engine and how well it runs. Does the 4X4 still work?
i'm thinking no more than $700.
-
i would go for less than scrap, maybe $100 less just to take the eye sore off his property and that covers the gas it would cost to haul it away.

He checked in 2 days after the initial post, don't think he liked what everyone had to say.

Guess that answers my question too.
That's my truck it was my grandpas maybe I should look out west before I tear anything down?
-
imo a grandpas truck is worth fixing, just because of the sentimental value
-
Who owns it now?

I would say no more than 2 to 3 hundred. I paid 200 for mine and it had a spun bearing in the connecting rod to cylinder 1. Block is good, but it required a full rebuild. Luckily I had a spare 350 laying around. Since I bought it, I replaced the clutch, replaced both headlights, put a stereo in it, amp and woofer, tach, cluster glass, cluster lighting, wiper switch, heater blower motor, alignment, tire rotation, swapped the back glass for split window, battery, battery wiring, headache rack, spot lights (mounted and wired) ignition cylinder lock, adjusted idle, flushed the front and rear differential, filled the tcase and flushed the transmission, cleaned the bead surfaces on all 4 rims, installed the cb, bed rail protectors, door seals, lightly detailed interior, wiring trailer brakes, front bumper, and swapped out door locks. I still have to replace the front output shaft seal on the tcase, and measure the yoke for a speedy sleeve. Im down to the almost nothing left except body work which I also have primed, I just need to paint the fenders, hood, cab visor, grille, and grile trim. Then its on to the cab, doors, bed and bumper. It helps that I mechanic for a local dealership. The point is, I still have a mountain of work ahead of me to get this truck running really good and looking really good. This is just so you know the kinds of problems your going to run into that will require eventual attention that will be a more expensive investment than your getting yourself into. If you have the time money and know how to take on a project like that, then more power to ya. But sometimes you get what you pay for. The only reason I took on this project is cause I have a love for restoring old chevy trucks.

I can not stand it anymore, is this acceptable in the English language today.
What is the deal with the all in 1 paragraphs ? Am I missing something or is this how it is taught these days ? It makes it hard to read, try rereading what you wrote and see how hard it is to read.

Seems a bit rude. Oh well. My post was to inform the original poster the amount of work that will take place when you take on projects of that magnitude. Not sure how that affects a different posters life..... Im sure we can all make a fair assumption the guy will be knee deep in repairs.
-
rude? maybe lol. but heres the thing, lets say you have a post just like above and post a question in the post. i can tell you right now i dont read post like that i skip over them. im not a English teacher or "grammar Nazi" but space it out a little so it all doesn't blend in for us with old eyes lol
