Title: 2nd gen chevy 14 bolt under 73?
Post by: jhiggin on July 23, 2014, 11:17:13 pm
So this may be a newbie question. I've reed through the 14 bolt bible and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. A buddy has a good 14 ff that he will sell me for cheap. He sais it came out of a 1970 k20 so my question is would it be a direct fit under the rear of my 81 k10 or is the axle set up with different perches etc.. ??

Yes should be direct fitment. Some of the 70s Chevy is a four-link suspension set up, but I believe that was only the 2wd (but just make sure it is not set up for four link and you should be good).

To my knowledge, unless the 14 bolt was swapped, a 1970 K20 would've had a Eaton HO52 rear axle or a Dana 60.

You might measure the distance from the center of the spring pads on each axle also the total widths to make sure you don't need to move spring pads and of sufficient overall width.
