Is there a way to adjust a clutch slave cylinder to fully relieve pressure on the fork? I just did a auto to manual swap on my 86' K20 and have taken it on a couple test runs. I started getting a whistling noise when cruising in 3rd gear. After getting the truck home I got underneath and the bell housing what ridiculously hot. I think the slave cylinder rod isn't releasing all the way and continuously pressing on the fork maybe causing the TOB to whine and maybe even disengaging the clutch a little and causing it to slip slightly and heat up. I really hope I didn't hose my TOB and clutch on the first couple outings!!
Also, The transmission itself was leaking gear oil like a sieve. Like an idiot I assumed the people that rebuilt the transmission would torque the bolts down. To my naive surprise I was able to torque almost every bolt a half turn with a normal wrench. Towards the end of my drive too I was getting a lot of grinding trying to downshift into 2nd, could that be a low gear oil issue?

Leaking like a sieve - excessive heat - grinding into 2nd - how low was the oil level? It may have burned a bearing and/or damaged a synchro.
General rule of thumb: there should be 3/4" - 1" of free play at the clutch pedal if you have lever & rod linkage. A little less with hydraulic actuation.

Sorry, bd, I just revamped my post after doing some more research. Is there a way to make the slave fully depress. It seems to be continuously pressing against the fork.
