Title: 700r4
Post by: 78chev2bnice on October 31, 2004, 01:05:00 pm
I am having some fuel economy problems.  10mpg on a 350.  I would like to put a 4 speed auto in my truck that currently has the turbo 350 in it and 3.08 gears.  I cruise at 2300rpm.  I know that it is possible to do this but I need some help.
1)I've read that there is transmission mounting problems and I would have to move the brace, is this true?
2)Something about the torque converter
3)drive shafts lengths, how long and could I steal on off a different truck.
4)How would I deal with the extra gear on the shift column.
5)Is it actually worth my time or should I just accept the fact that these trucks suck the gas down.

If you go to www.northernautoparts.com you can get a lock up kit for the trans that will allow the trans to lock up the torque converter and shift into overdrive without a computer.  The brace will have to be moved, but there may already be mounting holes. The shaft length will have to chanbe as well.  I am unsure about the column.
