The clutch (non hydraulic) pedal in my 1984 k20 has never returned all the way on it's own since I've had it. It will come up about 3/4 of the way then I have to hook my foot under and pull it the rest of the way. I took out the ac duct to get some access and I can see it the pedal arm rubbing on the metal structure next to it. I tried grinding down the area where they meet but I think it's not so much it rubbing as it's being pulled into the metal by the spring. Any one else had this problem? Any ideas?

Welcome to the site, Devin.
IIRC, there are plastic shoulder bushings between the through bolt and the pedal pivot. The bushings maybe worn out. It might benefit you to fit brass thrust washers in between the pedal pivot shaft and the pedal frame.

I was going to suggest checking out all the associated bushings on the linkage, then the linkage itself to make sure somehow it did not get bent.
Also welcome to the site.

Cool, tomorrow I will pull it apart and check those bushings out. Thanks for the welcome!

I disassembled my clutch linkage ( non hydraulic ) in order to change the shaft bushings. On reassembly, I can't for the life of me get the big clutch return spring hooked up. It has like no give in it whatsoever. Is there a trick I'm missing?
Thanks!

A pair of good pliers and a long flat bladed screwdriver is how I always have done them. Use the pliers to maneuver and the screwdriver to pry the spring apart and into place.

The assembly procedure is described on page 1528 (7C-12) of the 1984 Service Manual (http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/7387CKMans//Service/X8432_1984_GMC_Light_Duty_Trucks_Service_Manual.pdf).
