Title: sqeaking noise under truck...
Post by: danielM87 on October 26, 2004, 11:16:00 pm
My C-10 makes a monotonously uniform squeak-like noise -" Er  Er.. Er Er.. Er  Er" ,about every other time it is driven. My first guess was the wheel bearings, but my attention soon shifted. The noise comes from directly under the center of the truck, and only while in gear.(1st gear on a small farm road makes the noise obvious due to the regulation of the monotone sound of the squeak),  I was out working with the former owner recently and he suspected a loose or worn "Universal" underneath.

Any help, suggestions, possibilities, guesses, anything would be great.

I suspect he was talking about the U-joints in the driveshaft.

Sorry about the misleading info, i already knew that by him saying universal, he meant U-Joint. So, just replacing them should do the job? Anywhere i could find them online?

Check your parking brake cable. Mine got some slack in it and like to drove me nuts before I figured it out.
