What is the part number for a 1978 chevy c10 done light bulb?
-
An original dome lamp should use a 211-2 cartridge bulb.
-
The oriley guy said that to but it ended up being a totally different bulb and instead we got a 1004 ll
-
The 1004 was the bulb used in the earlier design dome lamp, later giving way to the 211-2. Both bulbs burn hot and tend to damage plastic lenses and housings eventually. As an alternative, the #90 miniature bulb runs cooler at half the wattage, but may not produce enough light for your taste.

Ok good to know thanks for the info

Just found another issue the dome light doesn't work but the one by the glove box does. I tried tracing the wires up and found no fault but yet I still have no voltage to the socket. Should I just run new wires up and tap in to the one under the glove box for power or is that on a different circuit ?

Courtesy and dome lamps power through different fuses. Check the fuses and the fuse connections in the fuse box (glass fuses have a tendency to corrode, causing loss of connection between the fuse and the fuse socket). In addition, the orange dome lamp wire plugs into one of the "BAT FUSED" taps near the top of the fuse box - make sure it is plugged in with a good connection. Another trouble spot for the dome lamp occurs where the orange and white wire pair run under the left sill plate.

Ok I'll make sure to when I get a chance tomorrow

Don't overlook your door switch too. They get stuck and fail. Easily replaced with a 7/16' extended socket. I remember that on mine the wire was pretty well stuck, and needed wd-40 and a good pull to get it off.

Replaced them a couple of months ago and I know they work due to the courtesy light working but thanks for the info
