I was just wondering if anyone out there knows how much horsepower a stock 73 saginaw 465 4 spd. transmission can handle as well as the rear end. the truck is a 1973 c20 3/4 ton 2wd. thanks for the help

The transmission is virtually bullet proof, but I believe they are 100K rated to 400ft/lbs, the rearend will be just as strong if you are running street tires.  It isn't the HP that breaks stuff, it is the torque.  The driveshaft will go before the trans or the diff, and the spider gears will go before that if you are doing alot of side stepping the clutch.

What is the intended purpose of the truck that you are asking these questions?

eventually i plan on turning the truck into a 12 or 13 second street ride. The engine that is in it now has a broken rod. I have thought about rebuilding it but i think it just makes more sense to buy a crate motor so i was just wondering what the stock tranny and drivetrain could handle
