Hello everyone, newbie to the site and like to pass on my find of a 1986 Extended Cab truck. Well it’s just the cab with doors and all the interior pieces. Only seen two in person and always wanted to have one. Since I was, 16 I have owned a 1985 C10 Silverado that is mostly still all original, but always liked to have an extended cab too. Well a couple weeks ago, I found one and snagged it up. Thought to just put in the back of my shop and start collecting the parts to rebuild it. It’s pretty rust free except for the rear window has some rust in the channel, but I have a replacement panel already. Body has some dings but fixable. I do not have much info on it nor does it have the CVI tag, but I do not care just tickled to have it.

Well I picked up my donor truck this past weekend. Not a lot left of it but the key pieces I need to get this restoration started (frame, bed, rear-end). Plus an added bonus I got the 350 fuel injected motor too. Next thing on my list is a complete front end.
I plan to restore it back to pretty much original but with a upgraded newer model motor, like a 6.0 or 5.3. Well as of now, that is my plan but things could change. It’s going to take time but I will get it done.
Great site, glad to be part of the family of trucks here.

I am looking forward to the progress on this build. I wish I could come across a extended cab, though I am particular to 4x4's. Include lot of pics, cause we like pics.

Will keep everyone up to date on this build. At the moment I need to get my shop rearranged and cleaned up to get things started. Was going to build a loft area in my shop to store parts so I can gain more room. Guess I should of listen to my friends and family when they said go bigger on my shop. O Well I will make it work.

Got a little more history on the truck now. It was bought new out of Del Rio, Texas and looks to have had two owners. I am currently trying to get a hold of the owners to get some more information and maybe some documents.
Also my daughter has named the truck now " FrankenTruck ", because of all the parts I have been getting for it to make it complete. Seems like a fitting name.

Well I picked up my next donor truck to help complete the extended cab rebuild. Its a1985 Suburban that came with some extra parts, like a brand new dash pad, a couple of real nice grills and a bunch of nick knack parts. I plan to use most of it like transmission, frontend, front doors and some interior pieces since the color is the same, after that I will pass on parts to other square body truck lovers out there. Still working on organizing my shop so nothing new has happen to the body of the extended cab yet. Little by little, I will get it done.

Looking forward to progress on this build. One of these days maybe I will get lucky and find a extended cab truck.

Yea bake74, I wanted one of these for a long time as well. Only saw two in person up until buying this one. Not much of one to start from but it has good bones and all the interior pieces are there. I had the septic guy come out last week and he saw my truck. Told me there is another one he saw in town at a farm. He supposed to get back with me on where it’s at but not sure if he was making conversation or really knew where one was. He has not called me back about it yet. O’ well, he might be full of it like what you sucks out of the tanks.

Sorry guys I have fell behind on this project. Some unexpected life changes has happen and put this project on hold for a little bit, however I still have it and keep collecting parts here and there when I have the money. Picked up the seats, plus some cab trim pieces about a few months back at a swap meet and a short bed about a week ago off CL. I have the long bed and was thinking about cutting it to fit like they did at CVI however it looks better with the SWB bed on it as mentioned by one of the other fellow extended cab owner. At this point I believe all the parts are there now to build except for some small detail things.
When all gets leveled out at home then maybe I can start this project back up.
Here is one picture I have taken after I put the seats in to see what they would look like.
