Title: Headliner Question

All the fabric is gone off my headliner but the backer (molded fiberboard? )is in good shape except for what appears to be foam that's dried to a powder on the surface. can this powder residue be removed or sealed so I could just glue a new piece of fabric over it.
I can get a pic if what I'm saying  it doesn't make sense...

     You can lightly sand it and then seal it.  Then put your new fabric over that.

I just finished a headliner...it's drying on the dining room table.
I used the Permatex headliner spray with good results.  Found the fabric at a bigger Joanne's fabric store for about 10 bucks per yard.
Lots of good videos online and even more opinions about which adhesive to use.
Good luck...you'll be happy when those little bits of decaying foam stop falling into you eyes!

I did my headliner about 10 years ago using the old fiber board.  I went to a local Hancock's Fabric store and bought the new foam-backed headliner material (no idea what I paid back then), and I believe I used the 3M spray glue.  It has held up very well, and still looks great.
