I did a couple of searches, and didn't find this already posted. Some of you guys may already know about this, but for the benefit of others...
My mechanical windshield washer pump quit pumping. I have already replaced it once since I've had the truck, and it hasn't worked in a long time. OEM-style replacement pumps are obviously still available, but since they are so prone to problems, I wanted another solution.
I had read about some people wiring in electric pumps or replacing the reservoir with a later model that has the electric pump in it. These solutions obviously work, but they do require a bit of wiring. In my searches, I found an "OEM-style" replacement electric pump made by Trico. I have no idea how long these have been around - maybe a while - but this was the perfect solution for me. It bolts on where the mechanical one goes, giving it a factory look, but doesn't have the drawbacks of the mechanical versions.

I installed mine today in all of 5 minutes, and it works like it's supposed to with the factory wiring. Only time will tell how well it lasts, but at least it works for now.
Anyway, for those of you who need a viable solution that's easy to install, like I did...here you go.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully it last awhile.

I have one of the electric replacements on my '77. It works great! It puts out more pressure than the old mechanical one. One thing you will notice is that you go through washer fluid more quickly.
-
Yeah...I did notice that it shot a consistent stream, not a pulsating one, and it sprays for a few seconds, so it is sucking some fluid....but that's ok...at least it works. :)

They do work great and they put more fluid up on the middle of the windshield instead of at the bottom 1/3rd.

Thanks for the help on this one guys. I started with replacing the seals on my pump and didn't do a thing for me. I purchase the pump listed above and it did the trick for less than $20! Couldn't be happier. About 5 minutes and was ready to go.
