Just got my fresh 350 dropped in my K20, now I need an exhaust. Are there any that fit really well in a 4x4? I noticed that the front driveshaft is REALLY close to where the pipe should run through. Also my headers come down and seem to hit dead center of the crossmember about 18" or so away....point being, does the kit have custom bent pieces to hook to the headers? Kinda this shape I guess but not as hard.

Just wondering if it's worth the effort or if I should just let a shop do the whole exhaust? Thanks

I bought a 2-1/4" kit off of Summit for my '77 K20 coupled with Hedman Elite headers and took the kit to an exhaust shop to put on along with my mufflers of choice. It turned-out pretty good, but I think the exhaust shop could have done a better job. I think it was more the laziness of the exhaust shop then the quality of the kit.
If I was to do it again, I think I would take it to a really good area shop that I know of, but I would pay for it! When I did the '77 exhaust it was more about saving money.

Did they have to modify the kit? I don't understand how they could screw up a kit lol.

There is always something wrong with the kit. A couple of bends that aren't quite right ect. The muffler shop has the tools to just rebend the pipes a little to make it fit.

I also have gone to a local shop and gotten custom exhaust put onto the headers I installed. I recommend that.

WELL.......I ended up going with the Dynomax header back kit #89004 with JEGS deep tone mufflers. I DO NOT recommend this kit! Despite mixed reviews I ordered it and figured for the price it was worth a shot. Took me about 4 hours and it was a total pain. I ha to use a tailpipe expander because a few pipes needed tweaked, but the worst part was the drivers side "head pipe" that goes from the header, over the crossmember, to the muffler, was NOT bent correctly at all! I basically got it man handled enough and twisted the muffler enough that it's on there but the drivers side looks like a train wreck compared to the passenger side. I've got the tail pipes as close to matching as I can but they aren't quite the same bends either. Took me a while to adjust the pipes to clearance several things in the chassis AND I had to make one of the brackets myself. The ONLY upside to the whole thing is that it sounds pretty good and isn't overly loud. I'd do a kit again, but not duals and not the cheapest on the market.
