Title: HEI Distributor
Post by: jacksubc20 on April 27, 2004, 11:13:00 am
I am rebuilding my 454 out of 78 Suburban.  I went with a Weiland dual plane intake, Road Demon Jr 725 cfm, Comp Cams Extreme 4x4 11-231-3 (254/262 duration, 210/218 @ .050, valve lift 505/505, lobe sep 111 degrees), flat top forged pistons (8.9:1 compression), bored .030 over.  The engine is still at the machine shop, so nothing is running yet.  My question is, do I need to rebuild, replace, adjust my stock Delco HEI distributor?  Is it worth the money to buy a new one, buy a kit to replace the top portion, or anything else I have not considered?  Again thanks for the help you've all given me thus far in this project, As soon as I get it all back together and running, I'll post with how everything is working.  Thanks again.

Cheers,
Jack
