Title: 86 c10 water temp sensor
Post by: pete.mccarthy1986 on September 24, 2014, 09:07:42 am
I am trying to locate or identify the water temperature sensor that is located on the water outlet housing along with the ported vacuum switch.  I am assuming its a sending unit as It has a single prong.  Looking through part sites I can only find sensors with two wires.  Do I need to convert it to a two wire or is this just a hard to locate part?

More info would help, but just guessing the switch in the t\stat housing is for egr bleed solenoid.Temp gauge sensor in left cylinder head ,assuming this is a 305 non ecm controlled system

I think its a temperature switch not a sensor.   The single wire runs to the accelerator pump solenoid.   Not sure yet if it activates the engine temp light or has some role in  activating the solenoid.  When I get it running this weekend I will know for sure (I hope).
