Title: Getting 87 TBI 305 started
Post by: Louisiana87 on October 02, 2014, 02:23:40 pm
Sorry if this question has been asked before, currently at work and the connection speed makes searching difficult. I have a 1987 Silverado with the 305 TBI. It was sitting under a patio for about 8 years or so. I've dropped both tanks, which were clean, checked all wiring, which is all intact, changed oil (was saved on fresh oil..), changed plugs, rotor, dist. cap, radiator fluid, and battery. It turns over and is getting oil psi, yet still no fire up and run. any advice?

Welcome to the site.

TBI is very fuel pressure sensitive.  Do you hear the in-tank fuel pump run for ~2 seconds when first turning the ignition on before cranking?  Verify there is ignition spark and measure the fuel pressure.  See if you have a blown 3-amp Crank fuse or blown 10-amp ECM-I or ECM-B fuses.

Thanks for the input. It was difficult to hear if the fuel pump kicked on or not, I will check out fuel PSI and spark when I get home.
