I bought an 86 swb truck that has a granny 4speed in it an want to put a 5 speed n it but it has a the electric speedometer how can I convert it over to mechanical.
-
I don't think an '86 should have an electric speedometer. Are you sure about that? If it does you just need a cable driven speedometer, the cable, and the transmission set up with the proper driven gear. A junkyard trip would probably be the best way to get set up.

The 4speed is mechanical its the 5 speed tranny that has electric speedometer.
-
Plus wandering if that 5 speed will hold up to my 350. It's pushing 330 hp an 420 torque!
-
Depends on what 5 speed you want..http://www.5speedtransmissions.com/68-87_chev_truck_5sp.html is what I am saving up for to put in my extended cab.
-
You need to tell us what 5 speed it is. It usually involves replacing a reluctor ring with a drive gear and a driven gear and housing in place of the sensor. Not terribly hard or expensive, but the amount of labor depends on the transmission.

Its a 1990-93 half ton chevy truck. One is a 90 chevy sport it has a 350 n it.
-
The NV3500 will be fine if you don't beat on it. It wasn't made to withstand what you want to put to it.
-
Well I'll get on it here an there but love to put the T56 in it if I can change the speedometer over to mechanical. I found 3 of them n the pick a parts in t/a's.
