my jackstands don't go high enough to fully get the tires off of the ground..its a few inches short and im not sure where i can lift the truck other than the frame because i don't think i can lift it from the rear axle as that needs to be relaxed. its an 86 halfton longbox. any suggestions? not sure if putting wood in between would be too safe as the heads of my jackstands are V shaped.

Dunnage is the term. It refers to the stacking or piling of material to make a solid base. To keep it simple just get some solid 6x6's x16" and make a solid base for the jack stands.

Yeah i thought about that. then i saw the front leaf spring brackets were lower than the frame and looked fairly secure. im leaving it on jackstands overnight to see if they budge, and if they don't im going to go for it. i really need to invest in some larger jack stands ::)

Got er all back together, didn't put the shock extenders in yet but fairly happy with the result!

once i put the shock extenders in hopefully there will be enough clearance to where it wont bottom out.

flip kits all in but its nearly sitting on my frame...are my shocks just that bad? what shocks should i get? anybody else ever had this problem?

You need to lose the bumps stops.
Nothing wrong with the shocks - shocks don't hold the vehicle up.

keeping them on atm so my axle doesnt smash against the frame. couldn't i put stiffer shocks in or something?

Stiffer shocks (typical of lowering shocks) will ride stiffer, but do nothing to prevent the axle-on-frame contact. Energy Suspension (among others) make an ultra-low profile bumpstop you could use (#9.9132, 3/8″ thick) if you ~get~ contact.
I have a c-notched frame, but do not run bumpstops at all.
Rumour is you likely will not need a notch with just a flip unless you intend to carry heavy stuff.

alright, good to know. i don't plan on carrying anything in the back really maybe the occasional toolbox so i think i should be good. ill probably get some stiffer shocks though because these ones are real loose. any suggestions?

I'm running cheap Monroe blue. KYB is better, and still reasonably affordable. Gabriel is about on par with Monroe.

Nice I would notch the frame for more axle travel. Some heavy duty shorter shocks I got some Gabriel guardian 82003. Ride smooth same length as the beltech drop nitro shocks. And are about 20.00 at autozone.

well when you get a chance and notch it. The shocks are only about 3 inches shorter than stocks. The shocks are not that strong where they pull on the axle, shocks only reduce the spring hop and also to reduce the impact of the road conditions.

alright, how much clearance should i be looking for from my axle to the frame for when i notch it?

Depends how much of a gambler you are. I don't like cutting more than half the frame rail away, and I always plate the inside. You can always purchase a bolt-in notch.

that notch looks nice, im asking like clearance wise axle to frame how many inches i should be looking for. i just dont wanna Heck anything up real bad lol

I recognize what you are asking. You want as much travel as you can get. It's better to have too much travel than not enough. Don't shoot for a minimum available travel, shot for a maximum notch, and hope it is enough.
Theoretically, you should have the same travel from the axle tube to the frame as you have from the top of the pumpkin to the underside of the bed. BUT, you will want more travel on the sides for when you are cornering hard AND hit a bump. Cut as deep as you dare. I don't cut more than half, but others do.
Do some google-foo and see what pictures shake up. Mini-notch, pipe-notch, and c-notch are common terms for this.
