Title: Installing buckets!
Post by: 1979C20 on October 26, 2014, 05:44:40 am
So I picked up a pair of Ridgid Industries racing bucket seats that were designed for a UTV from a friend of mine. That fit me pretty well and she gave me the old harnesses as well. I pulled the slider tracks off my bench seat and attached them to the bottom of the seat and put it in the driver side of the truck with a chunk of box tubing to space the front inside mount. Its at a great angle and it quite comfortable all the way back. Only problem is that with the factory sliders, the seat is wayyyy to high up. My knees drag on the steering wheel (non tilt) and it makes it difficult to reach the clutch. Im trying to find a good way to mount the seats with box tubing, but I would like access behind the seat. It would be quite difficult to make sliders out of box tubing, but I was thinking of trying to make a hinge setup, or a quick release so I can pull the whole seat out. Anyone got some ideas?

some pics would really help

do you have the sliding tracks from the buckets mounted on the sliding track of the bench?

Here is what I came up with for mounts. It sits perfect, I just wish I had easier access behind the seat.

Heres the mounts.

Compared to factory.

It sits about 2" lower and at a better angle with the new mounts

Practically level in the cab.

That wire is not strung across there anymore. Heres another angle on the mount

And here it is installed

i really like how low those sit.

you might be able to make a hinge on the front of the seat with a pin(hitch pin maybe) on the back so you pull the pin and the seat flips forward. it would be much more simple than making sliders
