Title: gauge cluster inter change

will a gauge cluster out of a 73 blazer work in my 78 k10 both both are same except 73 oil uses a hard line and the 78 a sender I can switch them but its the gas I'm interested in ?

Others will pitch in but, I believe 73 clusters are a sealed unit and 74 and up clusters are individual, each gauge can be serviced seperately.

It it a full gauge 73, if so don't plug it into the 78 harness.  One is AMP and the other is Volt, they aren't wired the same.

Much easier to just find a cluster that will  plug and play

The wire harness plug is the same but the positions of the wires are very different

If you get a cluster from a different year
You will have to get a wiring diagram for your truck and whatever year the cluster is and move the wires around in the plug

Been there done that
Except the opposite of you
We have what we believe is a 77 truck (factory VIN replaced with state issued VIN , so we really aren't sure what year it is )
 Cluster was toast and wanted To swap in 82 cluster we had laying around

Won't do it again
You'll spend hours trying to get the wires moved to the right spot in the plug
