Title: No gauge lights or fuel gauge?
Post by: Flywheel on October 26, 2014, 07:20:32 pm
I have searched and searched. I changed my 74 warning light cluster for an 85 or 86 full gauge cluster. I don't have any back lights after replacing all of the bulbs and my gas guage is dropped below empty. I know it's probably a wiring thing but I'm kinda wiring diagram illiterate lol.  Any ideas would be awesome.  I'm not worried about the other guages cause I have  guages for those already working.

The wires changed locations in the plug

We just swapped an 82 cluster into a 77
You have to get the diagram for both and move some wires in the plug

Plus the senders on the engine for temp and oil pressure and different for gauges

Yes I used it but I think I have a ground issue.

did you get this figured out.  You need to verify all of the pins in the cluster harness first or you could short something out.

I ended up finding a cluster from a 75.  Everything is good now.

Since the 73-75 version is AMPS it is never really a good idea for swapping things over without pulling every wiring, but since you were dummy lights it should eliminate that issue.  I would think you just had some pins in wrong.  Glad you got it figured out though.
