Title: Is the block the same on 1986 carb 350 and 1987 TBI 350?
Post by: 87 Wrangler on November 02, 2014, 07:33:03 pm
I am going to pick up an 86 c20 parts truck tomorrow, has a carb 350 with only 150000km on it. Looking to use the short block to build my vortec 350 TBI motor for my 87 r20. Just unsure if the short block /bottom end is the same and can be used for a fuely. Heads and intake are obviously different but don't matter in this case as I'm pulling them anyway. Any ideas info guys? Things got a bull low 4spd man too that I'm just gonna pull and sell.

That block should do everything you need.  You'll have to get a block off plate if you want to take the mechanical fuel pump off.

Great thanks, I was pretty sure it would work but was specifically wondering about the pump like you said. Didn't know you could just plate it off. Should be a 4 bolt main block, 8600 Gvwr truck I believe
