Title: Computer controlled carb
Post by: ackland3 on November 13, 2014, 08:58:16 pm
Allright did some research found out that the carb is computer controlled now i want to swap it out for an edelbrock what all is involved with this? Do i have to switch to another computer controlled carb or does it matter? Does this complicate a 305 to a 350 swap? Was planning on one eventually

you can just swap them. if you get a 600 it will be ok on a stock/mild 350 but the computer controlled probably will give you the best mpgs and performance if its in good working order

If the trans has an electric lock-up torque converter and you want to remove the computer, you may need a vacuum controlled switch to engage the TCC otherwise you won't go into lock-up and you may loose some mpgs.  I swapped out an electronic controlled dualjet on a v6 with a non-electronic one, straight forward process, just caused the check engine light to come on so I removed the computer module completely.
